It’s been a couple of weeks being flat out on the road working with amazing new clients like Cooper Vision, Lovisa, the Department of Family & Community Services.
I just wanted to bring to you the four ingredients that I’ve been speaking about with regards to affecting long term behavioural change.
How to elicit behaviour change?
The four ingredients are so important but underdone in a lot of leadership and developmental programs.
You can download the Brain Blinkers e-book and you can read more about it.
Today, I’m just going to give you the top four ingredients.
It’s called the A.C.I.D TEST. An easy acronym to remember.
The first ingredient is to be aware of the belief that you want to change. Nothing will change unless you’re aware of it. The second step is to challenge the belief. The challenge step is where you need to balance the benefits of changing the behaviour or belief and marry that against the benefits of staying the same.
It’s a really important distinction and critical to moving to the third step.
The third step is imagining, visualizing what that change looks like and how it manifests in your life.
It’s important to use all the senses. What’s it going to feel like? What’s it going to sound like when you hit that goal or change that relationship?
The final step is to DO IT.
There are four ingredients:
1) Be Aware.
2) Challenge the belief.
3) Imagine what it’s like when it’s changed
4) Then go ahead and do it. Make that change.
